So I’ve been making these interesting geometric designs for a couple years now and somehow I never considered that they could be made into sigils until today! They’re meant to be colored in with 4 different colors. I usually consider a sigil to be defined as a design infused with intent, so these would qualify. If I made them with intent in mind, I can’t see why they couldn’t be sigils. Do you guys think the same, or disagree? I made this one thinking about how I want to help my health get better. I’m going to color it in with different shades of green and yellow probably, for good luck and health. Please let me know what you think and I’ll add another picture when it’s colored!

Herbal Remedies for Cold and Flu Season

1. DIY Elderberry Thyme syrup – elderberry has been used for centuries in healing because it provides immune support (and has long been thought to banish negative energy). Can be taken both preventatively and to shorten the course of a cold.

2. DIY Cough Drops – these cute cough drops are made with tea and honey to sooth an irritated throat. The original blogger chose hibiscus tea for the taste, but consider using one of the herbal teas she lists at the bottom for a more healing herbal remedy.

3. Lemon, Honey, and Ginger in a Jar – a traditional and internet favorite, this mixture turns into a jelly for when your throat needs serious soothing. Honey has been used for millennia to heal a variety ailments, just be sure to keep this away from infants.

4. 30 Herbs for Cold and Flu Season – for those that like to have options, here is a long list of healing herbs with suggestions on how to use them during cold and flu season.

For magic to happen, there needs to be three parts.

First: a Power.

Second: an Intent.

Third: a Focus.

These three components are a part of every spell.

First, a Power.

Your heart is beating. Your lungs are breathing. Your blood is pumping. Electricity is racing through your neurons at astonishing speeds. You have that spark of life within you that makes all this into a person, an individual, something that has never been seen before and will never be seen again once you are gone. This is your life, within you as always. This is your spark, or power.

Second, an Intent.

You wish to accomplish something. You wish to change something. You wish to complete something. You wish to do something with your power. You have that wish inside you, telling you that you want something, telling you this wish that is strong and important enough to act on. It is your will, your intention to do this thing that you will do. This is your determination, or focus.

Third, a Focus.

This is the final piece of the puzzle. This is the bit that directs your magic. This piece takes your determination and spark and boils them down to a concentrated result. Without this part, your magic is directionless. A wand, a spell bottle, a potion or a ritual. These channels only have magic when you give them magic, but they are important. These are your tools, your focus.

And then, finally, the world changes.

Maybe only a little, and sometimes only for a short time. But it changes.

Thus your magic is born.

I don’t know how other people consider their magic, but this is how I think of mine. Please tell me what you think about it!

🌿Cheap Witch Patchwork Soup🌿

thewitchofthenorse

Patchwork soup, a name my boyfriend coined for my most often made pick-me-up soup! It’s probably not practical to post this in the summer but David got struck down with a rough cold and he needs a pick me up for his interview tomorrow! This is a crockpot recipe because I’m a lazy witch but I’m sure you can cook it on the stove just fine. Feel free to change the recipe or measurements as you please, I’d rather you enjoy the taste, and remember everything tastes better with a little love.💚✨

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of chicken stock or vegetable for a vegan option
  • 3 russet baking potatoes diced in small pieces(you can usually find these for $1 a pound, so it comes out to .50-.75cents)(healing, grounding)
  • one cup of diced carrots or a 6oz can of diced carrots
  • 6 oz can of corn(protection, good health)
  • 10 oz can of cream of mushroom
  • 4-6 diced chicken breasts(how many you use is up to you, I like to get thinly sliced ones from walmart because it’s usually $4-5 and less fatty, black beans are a good vegan option)
  • 6 cloves of garlic or two tablespoons(healing and protection)
  • crushed black pepper(protection)
  • sea salt(cleansing, protection)
  • thyme(healing, health)
  • coriander or cilantro(same plant different parts)(healing, health)
  • 3 bay leaves(protection, healing, purification)
  • 2 tsp onion powder or a small onion(healing)
  • 1 tsp tumeric(healing)

It’s time to make some fucking soup. There’s not a lot of brewing and stewing in this recipe so your intention goes into the ingredients; focus on healing energies when you cut up your ingredients. The first layer of your soup should be the diced chicken, on top of that place your potatoes, then the carrots and corn. Remember each layer is another layer of healing to your soup! Now it’s time for your lovely spices, when putting them in your soup poor it on top in a clockwise motion, do the same for the cream of mushroom and broth afterwards. Cover and cook on high for six to eight hours! Stir once more clockwise before serving to fill it with extra love and healing energy. Pairs well with mint or ginger tea. Enjoy!🍵

Favorite Food?

The yellow curry at my favorite Hawaiian restaurant is my favorite entree, and my favorite dessert is fried dough.

Favorite drink?

Oh man, i can’t choose. Mix equal parts iced tea, lemonade, and either lemon-lime soda or ginger ale for my first favorite. My second favorite is guava juice.

Favorite clothing?

I got some really cute sweaters this year, but I think my favorite has to be this pair of ultra soft jeans I got. They’re so nice and comfy I can sleep in them.

Favorite product?

It’s a pretty large product, but my favorite object I got this year was my new rat cage. I got it in January and it’s huge and awesome. It’s a Prevue Hendryx Feisty Ferret Cage. Other than that, my favorite objects are my Oracle and tarot cards.

Favorite month?

This is a hard one… January was pretty awesome, because I got my favorite pet Darcy the rat and raised her from a baby… May had my birthday, so that was pretty cool… In August I moved into my new house and saw wild mustangs in Nevada. I really had a great year. I guess I’ll say August, because it was when I moved out.

Favorite season?

Autumn is the best! Sure, Spring is great, but Autumn is the best!

Favorite holiday?

I love Christmas the best this year. It’s been really fun seeing my family.

Favorite place?

I went on two trips to California this year, and they were both amazing. I caught and released many lizards, so I would say that Scripps College in California is my favourite place I went this year.

Best experience?

Raising Darcy from a baby. I love her so much and I’m so glad I took her in. Her mom stopped feeding her because she’s a runt, but we brought her home and she thrived. It has been an honor to watch her grow.

Best song?

I don’t really listen to current music or the radio, but what i did listen to this year was songs by The Weakerthans, Panic! At the Disco, and Death Cab for Cutie.

Best movie?

Black Panther, I think. It was an amazing and beautiful movie.

Best series?

Book or show? If book, I read The Raven Cycle this year and loved it. If tv, then my favorite show series from this year is Aico Incarnation on Netflix. I like the ending.

Best book?

I really enjoyed reading Cat Daddy by Jackson Galaxy this year. It made me cry, but in a good way.

Best video game?

I played Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild this year and it was pretty awesome. I also really enjoy Animal Crossing: New Leaf though that’s a bit older.

Have you unlearned any bad habits?

I unlearned my habit of taking in dying animals. It had turned into basically a method of self-harm and I’m not down for that anymore.

Biggest disappointment?

I disappointed myself by having to give up some animals after I couldn’t take care of them well enough due to my chronic illness. I’m glad they have good homes now but I wish I could have taken better care of them.

Worst experience?

Having a friend move away and not being assertive enough to stay in touch. It sucked.

Any new hobbies?

Doll clothes making. I’m hoping to get good enough to sell them, but I’m not there yet. I had some fancy dolls laying around and realized I could use them as models to sell doll clothes made from fabric scraps.

Did you achieve your goals for 2018?

Not most of them, but a few yeah. I’m happy with some of the progress I’ve made.

Have you fulfilled a long term wish?

I saw wild mustangs, and moved out of my mom’s house, and graduated high school! I fulfilled several long term wishes!

Have you tried something new this year?

Tried making doll clothes, tried raising a rat from when it was young, tried being somewhat independent. Yes!

What plans and wishes do you have for next year?

I want to get better at managing my chronic illness and pain, I want to get kittens, I want to get a big cool fish tank and I want to get better at making things.

What was the funniest moment?

I do not remember any particular moment because this year was funny many times. But I can tell you a joke though! It was my first joke as a child. What lives under the ground and on your face? A mole! It’s a stupid joke but I’m proud of tiny me for thinking of it.

What are you thankful for?

I’m thankful for my beautiful family, including my pets. I’m thankful for my friends, who keep me going no matter what. I’m thankful for lots of food, and a good life for myself and the ones I care for. This life has been a blessing, and I’m thankful that I get to experience it with everyone. Thank you.

I’m tagging @practicalwitchcraft @mar-is-gone @cutiefrankie and anyone else who’s interested, just pretend I tagged you specifically. Have a great day!
